Making a Media Space

Have an extra bedroom that you don't want to put another bed in. Create a TV Media Room. Use a sofa bed for added guests, but giving you a a cozy space to enjoy day to day.

When creating a space you need to start with a color palette. I tend to create spaces that compliment the majority of the home. We choose black, cream, and gold accents.
We wanted to have a space which served for guests as well as something to use all year round.
Starting with the walls we used a black silk, grasscloth that has a blend of the colors we wanted.
The Abaca is what is used in this room, price point pretty high. We found these alternative with lower price points. Click here to see how much you will need for your room. In this room I chose to only paper two walls.
Don't feel like you need to paper the whole room.

The window coverings in this room
were custom made. But we found these that are customizable and come in many colors.
The area rug for this room measured 8x10 and was purchased at CB2. Found an alternative one below.
The Sectional was purchased at West Elm.

Now that you have all the staples for your room, now it's time to add the fun items:
Accent Gold Table in room was purchased from Horchow and no longer available, but we found this.
We used a 65" Smart TV in this room to make an impact. We also staged the closet in this room to hold, snacks, candy jars, extra pillows and blankets and finished by adding in a beverage fridge to hold favorite drinks.
Start to reimagine spaces for everyday living. A bed room does not have to have a bed to still be a room to utilize. Especially for empty nesters.
